Micro-entity accounts: does my company qualify?

For accounting periods beginning on or after 6 April 2025, a company generally needs to meet at least two of the current micro-entity size thresholds: turnover no more than £1 million, balance-sheet total no more than £500,000 and no more than 10 employees on average.

Size is only the first check

Meeting the numbers does not automatically make every company eligible. Some types of entity are excluded and the accounting period matters. MoneyCue's free checker therefore gives a size signal, not a legal determination.

Why micro-entity status matters

Qualifying micro-entities can use simpler reporting options, although they still need to prepare accounts for members and file accounts with Companies House. From April 2028, Companies House says all annual accounts filing will move to commercial software and iXBRL.
