Deadline

When are my company accounts and Corporation Tax due?

For most private companies after the first year, Companies House accounts, Corporation Tax payment and the Company Tax Return have different deadlines.

Three deadlines people often mix up

For a typical private limited company, annual accounts are normally due at Companies House 9 months after the financial year end. Corporation Tax is generally due 9 months and 1 day after the Corporation Tax accounting period. The Company Tax Return is generally due 12 months after that accounting period.

First accounts are different

A private company's first Companies House accounts usually have a 21-month deadline from incorporation when the first accounts cover more than 12 months, subject to the detailed rules. Do not guess a deadline from an ordinary year if this is the company's first set.
